I would like to share some experiences I have had as a practitioner dealing with walk in’s and the challenges they pose.
I have worked with hundreds of people who have suffered from what I call spirit attachments, that is – foreign entities that have attached to a living person. These “entities” appear to have varying degrees of consciousness, although usually very limited. For example, many ghosts or dead people attach to living people they come across who have qualities that are familiar or particularly appealing to them, based on who they were when they were alive or the activities they enjoyed. However, it is very common for that spirit to not realize fully that they are dead.
Many times during a session (I call them soul clearings or balances), the spirit of a dead person or fragmented soul will emerge and begin to interact with the therapist, only to discover, for the first time, that they are not alive. Perhaps this is due to a traumatic or sudden end, where their awareness becomes very limited and they fall into some kind of netherworld.
When that happens, the process becomes about helping the client effectively draw a clear distinction between their true self and the attachment (sometimes the attachment has been with them since childhood and it seems like a normal part of their experience – almost like an old friend).
Once the client is clear and aware of the psychic disturbance they have been experiencing, both client and therapist work together to see that the spirit of the dead person peacefully completes their transition by going to the light.
This is often a very humbling experience involving what some would call angels or other beings of light that assist the deceased spirit in finding their way. If there is some resistance from the ghost, it is usually because of some distrust or belief they have about themselves or their religious views.
My experience with walk in’s, however, is quite different – usually much more insidious and malevolent.
